Africa Integrity Indicators: New data, a new round and transitioning to Africa!
We are pleased to announce that we have completed the 8th round of the Africa Integrity Indicators (AII) project. The full dataset is available on our data page for you to explore and download (in Excel and CSV format).
The Africa Integrity Indicators project is an annual data collection exercise—undertaken in partnership with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation—that assesses key social, economic, political, and anti-corruption mechanisms at the national level in all African countries. It feeds into the Ibrahim Index of African Governance.
Each year, we invite feedback from governments and stakeholders after collecting data. This year we received feedback from national governments and local stakeholders during our review period (April-June 2020). We are very grateful for the comments and questions submitted as they strengthen the quality and accuracy of the research.
We consider and fully respond to all those who provide feedback, indicating where amendments were made based on contributions, and sharing the reasoning for keeping the research in its original form when amendments are not made.
As a result of this collaborative process, several proposed changes were carefully assessed—and some ultimately included—as reflected in the finalized data.

Contribute to the 9th Annual Africa Integrity Indicators
With this post, we are also launching the 9th round of the Africa Integrity Indicators, and we are accepting applications for contributors: lead researchers, country reviewers, and thematic reviewers. Collecting the data requires a pan-African team; as always, we are looking for journalists or other fast-paced researchers to join our team so that we can deliver a new round of high-quality research again next year.
The research covers all 54 African countries and requires in-country researchers and experts, so we do encourage anyone based in Africa to apply as we are filling roles for both lead researchers and peer reviewers on a rolling basis.
We are particularly looking for contributors in the following countries: Algeria, Angola, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Comoros, Lesotho, Libya, Morocco, Seychelles, and Zambia.

The Africa Integrity Indicators are Moving to Africa
Last but not least, we are very excited to announce that the Africa Integrity Indicators project will soon be moving to the African continent! Global Integrity and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation are working together to identify an African partner organization to take over the management of the AII after round 10.
